Ireland student visa from India 2026: funds, work rules & Stamp 2
What you need for an Irish study visa, how many hours you can work on Stamp 2, what registration costs on arrival, and how Stamp 1G works after your degree.
To study in Ireland, Indian students need a study visa for a full-time course on Ireland's Interim List of Eligible Programmes (ILEP) and must show access to €10,000 a year for living costs. On arrival you register for Stamp 2 permission, which costs €300 and lets you work 20 hours a week in term and 40 hours a week in the holidays. Students typically can't bring family. After a master's, Stamp 1G can give up to 24 months to find work.

- Register your permission if you're staying longer than 90 days. Book a first-time registration appointment in advance through the customer portal.
- The registration fee is €300.
- You can stay up to seven years in total as a student, counting any earlier study in Ireland.

Typically not. The Irish Immigration Service says students are typically not permitted to bring family members with them, except in very exceptional circumstances. Compare other countries in our spouse and dependants guide.
What happens after I graduate?
Graduates can apply for Stamp 1G to look for graduate-level work and apply for an employment permit. During Stamp 1G you can work 40 hours a week without an employment permit. After a master's (NFQ Level 9), Stamp 1G can run up to 24 months, granted in two 12-month stages. Once you get an employment permit, you move to the stamp linked to that permit.
