How much does a master’s in Ireland cost?
Irish universities set their own fees and publish them each year. UCC advises that non-EU students face fees from about €9,000 up to €30,000 a year, and individual schedules show the spread:
| University | Typical non-EU taught master's fee | Note |
|---|---|---|
| University of Limerick (2026–27) | mostly €18,000–18,600 | Some science and engineering courses are €20,000–24,800 |
| University College Cork | €9,000–30,000 range | Depends on the programme |
| Other universities | Published per programme | Fees usually rise each year |
Check the current year's fee schedule on each university's page before you budget. Most Irish taught master's programmes last 1 year.
How much money must I show for the Irish student visa?
Irish Immigration asks you to show access to €10,000 for each year of study for living costs, on top of your course fees. Where fees are over €6,000, you must pay at least €6,000 before you apply for the visa. If fees are under €6,000, you must pay the full amount first. Finance is a common reason for refusals, so keep your bank statements clean and easy to verify.
How many hours can I work in Ireland?
Students on Stamp 2 can generally work casual jobs for up to 20 hours a week in term time and up to 40 hours a week in holiday periods (June to September, and 15 December to 15 January). This applies to full-time courses on the Interim List of Eligible Programmes, so confirm your course is listed.
What is Stamp 1G, and how long can I stay after my master’s?
The Third Level Graduate Programme (Stamp 1G) lets non-EEA graduates look for work in Ireland after their studies:
- Master’s or higher (Level 9+): up to 24 months, granted as two 12-month blocks. The second block depends on showing you have taken steps to find graduate-level work.
- Bachelor’s (Level 8): 12 months.
- You must apply within six months of being notified of your award and hold a current Stamp 2 permission.
How can I pay for a master’s in Ireland?
- Education loans: collateral-free loans go up to ₹50 lakh from partner lenders, depending on the university and course. See our education loan guide.
- Scholarships: check scholarships for Indian students and each university's own awards.
- Part-time work: up to 20 hours a week in term time helps with living costs but should not be your main plan for tuition.
