What does UCC expect from an Indian degree?
UCC says postgraduate entry depends on the programme, and that Indian applicants usually need a first-class result from a good Indian institution. Graduates of some universities, such as Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta and Pune, may be considered with high second-class marks at the department’s discretion, and IIT applicants are asked to contact the International Office.
What English score does UCC ask for?
- IELTS: 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each skill (Academic) for most programmes, valid for two years.
- Higher for some courses: for example, MSc Human Anatomy asks for 6.5 in every skill.
- Other tests: check UCC’s English requirements page and our English test guide.
Can Indian students get a scholarship at UCC?
- UCC offers merit-based scholarships to non-EU students on taught master’s programmes, awarded at the offer stage and not on conditional offers.
- Example: a 20% fee reduction for Arts and Humanities students with a first-class (1H1) degree.
- We did not find a UCC scholarship aimed specifically at Indian master’s students; check the current list before applying.

What does the Irish visa side add to the budget?
On top of tuition, Irish Immigration asks you to show access to €10,000 for each year of study for living costs. If your fees are over €6,000 you must pay at least €6,000 before applying for the visa. Students on Stamp 2 can generally work up to 20 hours a week in term and 40 hours in the holiday periods. After a Level 9 master’s, Stamp 1G can give up to 24 months to look for work, in two 12-month blocks. Full details are in our MS in Ireland cost guide.
What do we advise Indian applicants?
- Check your degree class first: UCC usually wants a first class from Indian applicants, so a strong second class may fit other universities better.
- Apply with your English result if you can: UCC scholarships are not given on conditional offers.
- Compare with the University of Limerick, where similar tech master’s cost about €20,800.
